Have a read of this link

another link which might be worth reading if you speak French and want to build a house in Belgium. Not nice to read - explains some of the problems you might face.

View of the Street

This is the view from the top of the street. As you can see in the picture, the big sign from BIK Maison Woningen.. from this sign you might think there was land for sale, however it was sold already in 2005!

You also might think that BIK Maison/Woningen is building all of the 9 houses. Well they are not building 9 houses. Why not.. maybe ask the owners of the land? At the moment - BIK Maison/Woningen have only started on 2 houses.. with only 1 in construction... it is now end of April 2007.. so only 1 house partly in construction after 2 years???

To confirm, the house in the picture is not being built by BIK Maison / Woningen. It is built by just 1 man.. but faster than the BIK Maison / Woningen project. Does this give you any ideas what has happened on this street?

The other thing on this BIK Maison / Woningen sign, is that the land size is shown. I wonder if the land size shown is the actual number?

just to be clear on progress when BIK maison / woningen has to build more than one house on the same street.. well it seems they can't do that in the Everberg project,. here is the photograph that demonstrates it...

this is house 8 in the first week of March 2007, and then the same position the photograph is taken.., at the end of April 2007.
Maybe there is just too much building work, and not enough people to build. So take care when you sign a contract, on which date they will start construction?

this is a project at another site... just a few weeks ago.. nothing was here..
this is a house made by Dewaele.. It is a timber frame construction, which is different from the brick and block method used by BIK Maison / Woningen.

Weekly Progress

OK, it is the usual weekly look at the Everberg site here in Belgium - to see how the uni-builder is doing and how BIK maison / woningen is making progress - surely perfect weather to build in April since not a drop of rain so far.
And as you can see from the pictures.. in sequence..
House 8.. Again it is a BIK maison / woningen construction, but again a nice week of weather has past without a single brick being laid by BIK maison / woningen. Just think how many weeks have past since the foundation was made. At least some of the sand has gone down.
House 7.. BIK maison / woningen have not yet finished the 2nd level.. so 5 perfect days of weather, and still not able go that fast.
And the winner for the 12th week in a row,, is the Uni-builder - he is now on the 3rd level of the house, but of course he does this by working on Saturday, until 5pm

Link to a building forum

have a read of this..

http://www.skynet.be/index.html?a=posts&l1=communication&l2=forum&l3=home&p1=81097&new_lang=fr

if you can't understand the french, then use babelfish or google to translate it.

and then compare it to this...

How Long Does It Take to Build a House

I think it takes 200days to complete a BIK maison / woningen house here in Belgium.. but which 200 days? This is the most difficult thing to manage with a new construction, the schedule. In this situation, you would expect the building companies to offer some kind of calendar schedule, however it does not work like that.

some more pics of BIK maison / woningen house - interesting use of bricks on this property - using 2 colours provides some contrast and perhaps breaks up the lines of the house to make it look bigger than it actually is.

Great Weather Again

well another warm saturday- and who is working.. of course the uni-builder, the single handed builder working when the weather is good - of course it means the house is being completed quite quickly.

and another lost opportunity for BIK maisons woningen to catch up their schedule.

but house 8.. still nothing happens to this place.. at least some of the sand is now going down.

house number 7 - well their roof has arrived, it's now lying on the grass. Looks a bit bent don't you think? I hope it doesn't rain before it is all installed

With that design, it looks like they are having a loft space rather than another level of rooms

it's still going well at house 2.. next floor pre-cast concrete has arrived on site already, so soon that will be installed.

Land For Sale

some other land for sale.. I wonder which builder will be used..

BIK maisons, BIK Woningen would be a controversial choice, maybe.

I wonder what the price of the land will be, when will they start.

Schedule Again

how many days should it take to build a house

so many problems in everberg project, you would not expect this with a big building company like BIK maison / woningen.

visit www.myhouseproject.co.uk

If you have an information and experience of BIK Maisons / woningen, mentioning the strengths and opportunities for improvement, you might want to post them here. We can then compare our projects.

if you speak french, an interesting forum on BIK

http://www.bricozone.be/fr/construction/t-bik-155.html

the www.myhouseproject.co.uk has been updated again today, with the new colour scheme which is much easier to read than the previous one..

I wonder where the builders will put the earth, since BIK maisons / woningen have been on site since January - only one foundation, and one level of a small house has been built.

Beautiful weather again.. house 2 is on the left hand side, and house 7 is the grey one, just right of centre. It is interesting that the uni-builder has his own concrete making silo, whereas BIK Maison / Woningen - just has a small concrete mixer. Maybe the reason the house takes so long to build?

A Pile Of Sand

and house 8, how things have come to a grinding stop with the project.

Let me check the pictures on this project. The foundations were made.. well started digging the ground around 20th January 2007.. and then the foundations were fully completed mid March.. in fact that pile of sand arrived before 17th March and has not moved.

but on house 7.. they can't catch up house 2, why is that?

well it is a nice hot saturday in everberg..

what progress is being made..

house 2.. well they are still laying bricks, despite it being beach weather..

house number 2 goes a bit faster than the rest..

have a look at this website for how to build the house on this street..

Spot the difference.. the pictures are taken 3 weeks apart..!
